Saturday Jan. 14 2-4pm, Saturday Salon

Saturday Jan. 14 2-4pm
Lafayette Grill and Bar, 54 Franklin Street
(Between Lafayette + Broadway)

Quickly becoming Saturday afternoon’s downtown go-to destination, Saturday Salon features up and coming musical talent and speakers on contemporary issues.

Performances by:

-Alan Podber, Brooklyn-based Blues historian and guitarist on loan to us from the Big Road Blues Band. Alan just uncovered a freedom song that LeadBelly wrote in 1948 which has likely not been heard in public since 1949, the year he died - until now! Alan will be joined by Big Road members Ricky Eisenberg and Ken Ficara.
-Bryan & Marcy
(Marcy-the singing lawyer, from the People’s Republic of Brooklyn)
-
R&B guitarist extraordinaire Ahmad Ali
-Katie Kat,
Street Opera performer, who will sing Puccini’s, “Quando men vo” from La Boheme.
and
-Howard Brandstein
(Coordinator of the Sixth Street Community Center as well as NY State Against Genetic Engineering) will be this month’s featured speaker, and will update us on the latest from the anti-GMO and “safe food” movement.

”An impressive combination of entertainment combined with informative thought provoking dialogues in an old time European atmosphere- reminds me of Paris in the 30′s.”

Excellent Mediterranean food and drink will be available. Free hors d’oeuvres for early-birds (hummous, baba ganouj, etc.). Entrance is $5 to benefit WBAI.
