Arts & Entertainment February 10, 2010 Don't Miss Jazz on the Vine By Jessica Mackin (click for larger version) The Jazz on the Vine themed 2010 Long Island Winterfest kicks off its third consecutive year with six great weekends of over 70 free jazz concerts at winery tasting rooms as well as other venues on Saturdays and Sundays. Friday the series starts off with Judy Carmichael at Wolffer Estate Vineyards in Wainscott at 7 PM. Ahmad Ali is a well known performer all over Long Island, capturing audiences with his guitar, soulful voice and prolific songwriting. But Ahmad's talent doesn't stop there. His experience in the music business also extends to a background as Musical Director for such acts as "Soul 4 Real" while touring London, Amsterdam, Bulawayo and Harare in Zimbabwe as well as working in award winning “Perfect Pair Studios." While continually playing the east end of Long Island with multiple bands for events such as The East End Arts Council's Winter Jazz Fest, he is known to be an activist in local and global topics.
